Market Leveling Out?
Prices lowered to move the inventory?

Summers over it’s time to clear the decks. And the data would seem to support that prices being lowered to move the inventory is in fact what is happening. We can see that inventory numbers are down but average ask prices are flat or up. This would indicate that lower priced cars are being moved, lowering inventory counts but increasing the average price of remaining holdouts.
For the first time we have added partial month data for the 991 GT2 RS. This increased the inventory count by 17 units. Despite this the inventory count total fell by 13 units. A swing of 30 units. Average unit age over 90 days was unchanged and short term inventory fell by 3%. Put it all together and feels like prices are being lowered to move cars – sellers are beginning to capitulate to market forces.
Next report we will be adding 7 additional 991 models which will initially skew overall totals. But we will still be able to segregate prior models and assess their behavior going into the fall. By the end of the year we will have 90 days of data on all of the new models and should have a real feel for their markets as well.
